When Jabez met me, I was finishing nursing school in the prairies of Oklahoma and he was working in finance and living in Times Square. On our first date, he told me about a professor that inspired him by bringing counseling services to the Middle East where so many had witnessed the traumas of war in their home towns.
Right away I could tell he was more than a cog in the corporate machine, and so - fast forward 2 years -
I walked down the aisle and married him!
It's been my great honor and privilege to watch Jabez bravely leave the fancy paycheck behind to pursue his passion for counseling and to provide a safe place for clients to heal - especially clients like himself, who did not grow up in cultures that readily embrace counseling.
